Château L’If is a relatively new Bordeaux wine, created by Jacques Thienpont, best known for owning the famous Pomerol property Le Pin. The property consists of 8 hectares of which 5 are situated next to Troplong Mondot. The 2019 is a Merlot-dominant expression, offering notes of red fruits, tobacco leaves, dark chocolate, macadamia nuts and wet earth. Drinking well now but will develop further in bottle.
The 2019 L`If has an almost Left Bank nose with copious graphite scents percolating through the black fruit, very focused and energetic. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, finely tuned, ripe and sensual with ample freshness on the cedar and mineral infused finish. Wonderful.
