Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton 2022 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Le Corton in the Côte de Beaune. Owned by the Henriot family since 1995, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of France’s oldest wine estates with a history that spans nearly three centuries. It is also one of the largest landowners in Burgundy, with vineyard holdings totalling approximately 130 hectares. "An exceptionally elegant and subtle wine for this Grand Cru with silky tannins and a breathtaking interplay of red fruits, floral and wild herbs. Super-long, pristine finish. This masterpiece has enormous ageing potential. From a 2.9 hectare plot high up on the eastern side of the hill of Corton with rich but shallow red clay soil." James Suckling, 2023
The 2022 Le Corton Grand Cru comes from vines at higher altitude. It has a well-defined and precise bouquet, the altitude imparting more freshness than some of the other red cuvées this year. The medium-bodied palate has supple tannins and a mixture of red and black fruit, white pepper and clove, leading to a refined and persistent finish. Excellent. - Neil Martin

Bouchard Pere et Fils

Bouchard Pere et Fils

Established in 1731, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest and largest wine estates in the Côte d’Or. In 1995, the estate was acquired by the Henriot family, whose portfolio also includes William Fèvre, Beaux Frères, Château de Poncié and Champagne Henriot. Bouchard boasts vineyard holdings totalling approximately 130 hectares, including 74ha of Premiers Crus and 12ha of Grand Crus, with as many as 450 different individual plots. While the maison’s vast mosaic of holdings are weighted towards the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits is also a major focus.

The maison’s original vineyard was purchased by Joseph Bouchard in Volnay Les Caillerets in 1775. Not long after Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus followed. Now one of four Bouchard monopole vineyards, Beaune Grèves Vignes de l’Enfant Jésus was once owned by the Carmelite order of nuns and is the source of Bouchard’s flagship wine. Bouchard’s extensive suite of wines is produced and aged at the state-of-the-art, gravity-fed Cuverie Saint Vincent in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Once bottled, the wines are stored beneath the historic Château de Beaune, built in the 15th century by King Louis XI and purchased by Bernard Bouchard in 1820.

With almost 300 years of savoir-faire, from its unrivalled multiplicity of terroirs, Bouchard stands as one of the most eminent names in Burgundy winemaking.
