The 1929 Latour, a late release from the château in 2002, puts in another stellar showing and eclipses the 1928 poured alongside. It has a wondrous, life-affirming nose with shimmering red berry fruit, graphite, blood orange and crushed stone, all delivered with breathtaking delineation. Scents of wild strawberries emerge with time. The palate has exquisite balance and refinement, just as energetic as the bottle in 2018, full of tension from start to finish. The tannins are so finely sculpted, and the purity of the finish is utterly seductive. There is a peacock`s tail of flavors that leave you wanting more. The apogee of 20th century Latour. Tasted at the Twenties Latour and Peers dinner at Epure in Hong Kong. - Neil Martin
Château Latour is one of the oldest Bordeaux wine producing properties in the appellation of Pauillac and has a history dating back to the 14th Century. It was classified as a First Growth in 1855 and is widely regarded as one of the most consistent of all the elite châteaux, with a reputation for wines of remarkable longevity. Here is an extremely rare find from the 1929 vintage. A true piece of château history.
