Château Langoa Barton is a Third Growth estate situated within the Saint-Julien appellation. Since 1821 the property has been owned by the Barton family, whose portfolio also includes the neighbouring Château Léoville Barton. This is their Grand Vin from the 2001 vintage, a blend composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Expect notes of blackcurrants, pastille, a touch of cassis and graphite. Long Cabernet finish with still some grip on show.
The 2001 Langoa-Barton has a rich bouquet for the vintage. It lacks a bit of purity compared to previous bottles, with earthy and mushroom secondary scents coming through. The palate is sensual and quite plush, soft tannins framing the black cherries, allspice, cedar and mint notes that blossom in the glass. Fully matured and yet showing the substance and freshness to support another 15–20 years of aging, this delicious Langoa is as good as the Léoville-Barton. Utterly divine.

Chateau Langoa Barton

Chateau Langoa Barton

Château Langoa-Barton is a 3ème Grand Cru Classé estate situated in Saint-Julien and is well-known for producing incredibly traditional and formidably tannic wines. The château has been in the Barton family for eight generations, a sister estate to the famous Léoville Barton.

The 20 hectares of vineyard are planted on classic gravel / clay soils and plantings are split between Cabernet Sauvignon (71%), Merlot (21%) and Cabernet Franc (8%). The wine is aged for around 18 months in 50% new oak using example the same techniques employed at Leoville Barton.
