La Tache DRC 2005

HED1070 75cl 13%
La Tâche is a small Grand Cru vineyard in the village of Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, and is a monopole of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The 2005 is drinking beautifully now, with beautiful weight on the palate. A heady mix of spice and flowers, with gamey, savoury complexity.
The 2005 La Tâche Grand Cru is just starting to be approachable, although I would not begrudge anyone who might prefer to cellar it for a few more years. I am struck by the wine`s huge core of dark fruit and magnificent sense of proportion. Time in the glass brings out the classic range of La Tâche aromatics - black tea, mint, sage, crushed flowers and exotic spice - and yet the 2005 remains a Burgundy of substance and textural depth more than anything else. It`s a statuesque Burgundy in which everything comes together. Tasted at a private dinner. - Antonio Galloni - The 2005 La Tâche Grand Cru is just starting to be approachable, although I would not begrudge anyone who might prefer to cellar it for a few more years. Domaine de la Romanee-Conti

Domaine de la Romanee-Conti

Words do not do justice to this legendary Burgundian producer. Situated in the commune of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée Conti (DRC) is considered by many to be the finest producer in the world. Co-owned by the Villaine and Leroy families, DRC produces only Grand Cru wines - some of the most sought after and ageworthy in Burgundy - from key grape varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These include six reds: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-St-Vivant, Échezeaux and Grands Échezeaux, and one white wine, Le Montrachet.

Run by co-directors Aubert de Villaine and Henri-Frédéric Roch for many years, the domaine is now entering a new chapter under new leadership. The domaine consists of 25 hectares of meticulously tended vineyards and includes some of the greatest terroirs in Burgundy.
