Jacques Selosse Contraste 2008 Disgorgement

HED94385 75cl 12.5%
Jacques Selosse Contraste (2008 Disgorgement) is a non-vintage Champagne produced from 100% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and Ambonnay, from 2002 and 2003 vintages. The name for this highly coveted comes from the contrast of vineyard sites in which the Pinot Noir grapes grow. Some offer ripeness, others emphasise minerality. "The wine reveals superb richness and density in its Pinot fruit, yet remains weightless and stunningly perfumed, with silky tannins that caress the palate in an extraordinary display of sheer class and elegance. Close your eyes and imagine an utterly monumental grand cru Burgundy with bubbles, and that is as good a descriptor as any for what is in the glass in this utterly profound wine." Based in Avize, Jacques Selosse is cult Champagne producer if ever there was one, producing exquisitely complex and long-lived Champagnes in an oxidative style, with fermentation and ageing in small oak barrels. These are Champagnes which very much reflect the specific terroir from which they were produced.
