Hermitage La Chapelle from Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the most iconic and revered wines in the world. Established in 1834, the estate is one of the largest landowners on the legendary hill of Hermitage, with vineyards located in some of the finest lieux-dits, including Les Bessards, Le Meal, Greffieux, and Rocoules. The 1961 vintage, widely regarded as one of the greatest red wines ever made, epitomises the estate’s legacy.
This wine is dense, concentrated, and profoundly complex, with every component in perfect harmony. Known for its remarkable ageing potential, some have described it as “seemingly immortal”, it has scored a perfect 100 points from The Wine Advocate on four separate occasions. The 1961 vintage continues to impress, and with its incredible balance, it has a drinking window extending to 2060, making it a rare treasure for collectors.
