Having studied oenology in Bordeaux, Alvaro Palacios began his winery in Priorat back in 1989 with the aim of utilising fruit from extremely old, low-yielding vines and modern winemaking techniques to create world class wines truly expressive of their terroir. This cuvée represents his “village” red with fruit being sourced from several vineyards across the village of Gratallops. The 2017 is a blend of 80% Garnacha, 19% Cariñena and 1% white grapes, offering up pure and expressive aromas of wild red berries, anise and wild herbs. It is seductively ripe and smooth, with an exceptionally refined chassis of tannin and classic slatey minerality throughout.
