Gewurztraminer Les Fous from Leon Boesch in 2022 presents an aromatic profile that is characteristic of the varietal, with notes of lychee, rose petal, and spice. The palate is medium-bodied, showcasing a lush texture and bracing acidity that balances the sweetness often associated with Gewurztraminer. Subtle hints of ginger and citrus peel add complexity, while the finish reveals a lingering floral note.

Leon Boesch is known for its commitment to sustainable viticulture in Alsace, France, where this wine is produced. The grapes are harvested from hand-tended vines, emphasising the importance of terroir. This Gewurztraminer is best enjoyed chilled, making it a versatile pairing for spicy dishes or rich cheeses

The 2022 Gewurztraminer Les Fous is picked on the west flank of the Bollenberg on limestone and the Breitenberg on sandstone. The name refers to the 1920s when the Boesch family planted Vitis vinifera rather than hybrids, and the other villagers called them "crazy." Flinty reduction blends with Damask rose on the nose. The palate then pushes zesty orange peel on a linear palate, not at all like your usual Gewurztraminer, yet scented and spicy, but with a brief finish. (Bone-Dry)
