Château Gazin 2005, located on the Pomerol plateau, has been in the de Bailliencourt family since 1918. This vintage is composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc, is considered one of their best vintages. The nose reveals slightly toasted nuances alongside ripe blackberries, black cherries, and floral hints, complemented by touches of spice and truffle. On the palate, the wine demonstrates a smooth and balanced profile, with a moderately long finish. This bottle is now reaching its optimal drinking window.
The 2005 Gazin is a powerful, structured Pomerol. Red berry fruit, iron, white pepper, chalk and mint lend quite a bit of brightness. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2005 packs a serious punch, with huge, persistent tannins that lend shape and explosive energy through to the finish.
