Château Ferriere 2004 is a mature-vintage, full-bodied, Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Margau appellation of Bordeaux. Now under the same ownership as Château Chasse-Spleen, Château Ferrière is a Third Growth Margaux property now producing noteworthy estate wines after a period producing the second wines of Châteaux Prieuré-Lichine and Lascombes. "Medium to deep ruby-red color. The nose is a classic combination of cedar & cassis. The cassis fruit on the nose is supported by good fresh acidity. The tannins provide some grip & cedary notes overlay the more redcurrant-natured mid-palate. The wine is fresh & lively rather than concentrated. Alcohol is balanced, there is some bitterness on the finish that gives the wine good length & adds an extra dimension at the end." DCAMW
