Situated in the village of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée Conti is undoubtedly the most prestigious wine estate in Burgundy. DRC – as it is frequently called – is co-owned by the de Villaine and Leroy families and produces only grand cru wines. The vines are farmed biodynamically, yields are kept low by methodical pruning and harvesting is typically very late. Their Échezeaux cuvée comes from a 4.67-hectare vineyard holding, where the vines’ average age is 34 years old. This release perfectly expresses the density and exuberance of the 2009 vintage, where the nuttiness, the intensity and precision are the big highlights.
