When Ernst Loosen took over the 200-year-old family estate in 1988, he realised he had ungrafted vines averaging 60 years of age in some of the finest vineyards in the country and recognised the unbelievable potential to create truly world-class Riesling. By dramatically reducing yields, eschewing the use of chemicals and turning to gentler winemaking techniques, he has become one of Germany’s most celebrated producers.

This 2001 Riesling Auslese originates from Erdener Prälat, a premier vineyard site in Germany`s Mosel region. This vintage showcases a blend of tropical fruit and lychee aromas, complemented by a subtle petrol character. The wine displays a balanced acidity, with an intriguing sweetness that speaks to its maturity. Its full-bodied nature and persistent finish make it a notable choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
