Franz Hirtzberger Singerriedel Riesling Smaragd 2022 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard white wine from the Wachau region of Austria. Smaragd denotes grapes picked with the highest level of ripeness and is considered the highest quality level of the wines of Wachau. A blend of seven different parcels extending from the top to the bottom of the steep, rocky Singerriedel vineyard, this 2021 Riesling is structured, with hugely impressive texture and breadth. Huge ageing potential, too. "This astonishing dry Riesling has an extraordinarily complex nose that’s brimming with spice, mandarin orange, mango and persimmon. Still very tightly wound on the medium-bodied palate with a whiplash acidity that could wake the dead.
