Danbury Ridge Pinot Noir 2020

HED22726 75cl 13%
Danbury Ridge vineyards were founded by two generations of the Bunker family in the village of Danbury, Essex. The 2020 vintage marks the third release of Pinot Noir from Danbury Ridge and sees 10 months ageing in barrel. Ripe red fruit aromas abound, with hints of orange blossom and forest floor in the mix. Both red and black fruits interweave on the palate with silky smooth tannins and a fresh acidity that manage to both caress and invigorate the tongue on the long finish.

Danbury Ridge

Located between Blackwater estuary and the river Crouch in Essex, Danbury Ridge is a leading producer of English wines, producing premium still wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The estate was founded by Michael and Heather Bunker, and is managed by their daughters, Janine and Sophie.

The first vines were planted at Danbury in 2014, with the area’s unique mesoclimate (this part of Essex is one of the warmest and driest in British Isles) being deemed especially suitable to ripening Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Now equipped with a state-of-the-art cellar managed by winemaker Liam Idzikowski, Danbury Ridge looks set to become one of the driving forces of the English wine revolution for years to come.
