With a rich heritage and history spanning over four centuries, Croft is one of the most distinguished of all the Port houses. 2017 is a superb follow-up to the fantastic 2016 and is the result of incredibly warm ripening conditions and the earliest harvesting date for over 70 years. Dense and inky in colour, the bouquet is incredibly rich and concentrated, offering up notes of juicy blackcurrant, black cherry and wild strawberry, with signature heady scents of wild herbs. On the palate it is youthfully firm with tightly-packed, sinewy tannins and an abundance of seductive dark fruits lurking beneath. This will almost certainly need a good 10-15+ years in the cellar to show its full complexity.
