Domaine d`Auvenay is a boutique wine producer based in Saint-Romain. Owned and run by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, it is one strand of the Leroy group, which also includes Domaine Leroy and Maison Leroy. The estate covers only 4 hectares of vines, but these holdings include plots in prestigious vineyards such as Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, where this cuvée comes from. The 2001 vintage is pure and intense, brimming with citrus fruit, white flowers, honey, buttered toast, mineral notes and just a hint of toffee. Lovely to be enjoyed now but it will develop further for at least 10 years.
