Coteaux Bourguignons Gamay Prieure-Roch 2019

HED35679 75cl 14%
Domaine Prieuré Roch was originally founded by Henry-Frédéric Roch, who passed away in 2018. He was the co-director of the famed Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and grandson of Henri Leroy. Over the course of the years, the domaine achieved cult status, in part due to its strict low yield productions and minimal intervention approach. This release is the 2019 vintage of the domaine’s Coteaux Bourguignons, a new appellation created in 2012, which gives vignerons the flexibility to use grapes from anywhere in the defined Burgundy and Beaujolais regions.

Prieure Roch

Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, whose family are part-owners of the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Prieure Roch produce wine from vineyard parcels in communes as diverse as Ladoix, Chambertin, Vosne Romanée and Savigny Les Beune. Farming of the vineyards is done to organic standards, veering towards full biodynamics in some instances and cellar techniques are strictly traditional - vinified in large wooden vats, manual punching down and without the use of sulphur.

Wines are kept in barrel for 12-24 months before bottling, although some experiments with extended ageing have taken place - most notably in 2002. These are elegant wines with the ripeness and poise that one would expect from a family that also produce arguable some of the world's great Pinot Noir
