Based in Condrieu, Domaine Yves et Mathilde Gangloff produces a limited selection of wines from prestigious sites in the Côte Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph. The Sereine Noire cuvée is made with 100% Syrah grapes, solely from 50-year-old vines. The wine is vinified in stainless steel vats, then aged in between 30% to 50% new French oak barrels for up to 24 months prior to bottling. The nose is filled with wood notes, roasted beef and roses. On the palate, tannins are nice and grippy. Great acidity, with hints of raspberries and other red fruits.
