Colgin Cariad 2008 is a full-bodied, Bordeaux-style Napa red blend produced from selected vineyards in the hills above Oakville, California. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot is sourced from the Madrona Ranch and this is blended with fruit from Thorevilos and Howell Mountain. Colgin is a ripe and powerful Pauillac-like Cabernet-based blend and a frequent 100-point wine for such critical platforms as Wine Advocate. "This shows such amazing aromas of porcini mushrooms with dark fruits and Chinese tea and smoke. Decadent. Changes all the time. Exotic. Full-bodied, with a round and soft texture. Long and very intense with fabulous fruit. So much going on. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot 7% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. Hard not to enjoy now but will improve with age."
