Domaine Jean Royer is a fairly new estate in the Southern Rhone Valley that only dates back to 1985. Tradition is typically a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, but that blend can vary in some years. The nose is pungent and balanced, with aromas of black cherries, liquorice, kirsch liqueur, crushed rocks, violets and some peppery tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with medium acidity and youthful tannins. The mouthfeel is rich and plush.
