Owned and operated by the tireless Féraud family, Domaine de Pegau is unquestionably one of the leading producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cuvée da Capo is their flagship wine and is only produced in years deemed of exceptional quality, with just seven vintages ever released. It is a traditional assemblage of the 13 permitted varieties, all sourced from the supreme Le Crau sub-zone, but contains a significant portion of Grenache.
1998 was the inaugural vintage of Cuvée da Capo, a benchmark year that set the standard for future releases. This is a profound and deeply structured wine, bursting with dark cherry, blackberries, and Provençal herbs, underpinned by notes of spice and cured meats. With its immense concentration and still-vibrant acidity, the tannins remain impressively firm yet refined. Now in a superb drinking window, it continues to evolve gracefully, offering remarkable depth and length.
