Clos des Papes, run by successive generations of the Avril family, has a long and illustrious history of producing exceptional quality wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Though 90% of production is red, 10% is reserved for white wine, typically a blend of equal parts Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Picpoul, vinified and aged in stainless steel for 6 months. The 2011 release is still on the fresh side, boasting notes of melon, soft honey and light citrus.
