Echézeaux Georges Noellat 2012 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the illustrious Echézeaux Grand Cru vineyard. Originating from a very small parcel, this wine presents a complex bouquet marked by subtle wood notes that interact with the inherent spice of the fruit. On the palate, the medium-bodied structure reveals a well-defined texture, combining refreshing acidity with a notable sweetness. The finish is long and intricate, demonstrating the wine’s balance and depth. Winemaker Georges Noëllat is a much-admired producer with a focus on biodynamic practices.
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Champ Gains 1er Cru was significantly reduced when I tasted it early from barrel. The palate was more expressive, with fine weight and density, perhaps without the same amplitude as the Chenevottes, though there is plenty of extract on the finish.
