Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses Robert Groffier 2020

Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 2020 is a Burgundy Pinot Noir from the 1er Cru of Les Amoreuses in Chambolle-Musigny. Les Amoreuses is the most celebrated 1er in Cru Côte de Nuits. With more limestone soil than is typical in the region, Les Amoureuses produces fine, filigree wines with a perfume which has enchanted many a Burgundy aficionado. Groffier is one of the leading producers in the region, though still somewhat undervalued compared to some of the more famous names. Over recent years, winemaker Nicolas Groffier has sought to reduce the amount of new oak used and prefers minimal racking of the domaine`s wines. The 2020 Les Amoureuses comes from 80-years old vines. It was fermented with 50% whole bunches and matured in 25% new oak. "It has a well-defined bouquet with rose petals, red berry fruit, just a very faint hints of menthol in the far distance. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh and vibrant, lightly spiced towards the finish that feels linear and strict. This Amoureuses does not want to give too much away at the moment but the length in the mouth cannot be denied and augurs well for the future." Neal Martin, 2022
