Founded by the Perez family in 1752, Bodegas y Viñedos Castro Ventosa is a Bierzo-based producer, making some outstanding Mencía wines. Their estate covers 75 hectares of vineyards, making them the biggest owners of this varietal within the Bierzo D.O. First produced in 2014, Valtuille Rapolao is made with 85% Mencía and 15% Alicante Bouschet. It is a beautifully scented red wine, displaying notes of cherries, violets, savoury spices and dried herbs.
