Casal Santa Maria is an estate in the Lisboa region that dates back to the 18th Century and produces wine in the legendary DOC of Colares. This is an unusual, slightly oxidative style of white wine made from the Malvasia variety and aged in used French barriques for 18 months. It is crisp, bright and fresh, offering up notes of white fruits, tangerine, fennel, almonds, honey and a light salinity. Intense, clean and textural, it is a certain winner with simply prepared seafood dishes.
