Thibault Legrand-Latour`s Campanien is a distinctive Champagne crafted exclusively from 100% Pinot Meunier grapes, sourced from the family`s vineyards in Fleury La Rivière, Champagne. The cuvée`s name (and label) pays homage to the Campanian geological period, reflecting the chalk-rich subsoil that imparts a unique minerality to the wine. The vinification process involves 11 months of maturation in oak barrels, followed by approximately 30 months of ageing sur latte in the bottle before disgorgement. This meticulous approach results in a Champagne that exhibits a fresh nose with notes of apple and quince. On the palate, it presents a slight sourness, followed by a fresh acidity, making it very drinkable and food friendly. The Legrand-Latour family has been dedicated to viticulture for four generations, blending traditional methods with modern techniques to produce Champagnes that authentically express their terroir. Thibault`s innovative geo-oenological approach highlights the influence of the fossil-rich subsoil on the mineral expression of their wines, offering a truly unique tasting experience.
