This is a beautiful aged Rioja from legendary winery, Finca Allende. Calvario is single vineyard planted in 1945 in the village of Briones and is composed of mostly Tempranillo with small amounts of Garnacha and Graciano. The 1999 is soft and mellow with wonderful notes of dried black fruits, exotic spices, earth and leather. Now at peak, this would be lovely alongside braised meat dishes.
