Brora 37 Year Old (2015 Release)

HED71146 70cl 50.4%
A bottling of 37 year old Brora which was part of Diageo`s "Special Releases" series in 2015.

This is a very classic Brora - waxy orchard fruit, a touch of smoke and sea spray and a whiff of leathery funk. The palate is lighter with elegant green apple, smoked meat, lemon peel and dried figs before a wonderfully smooth finish that marries bonfire and spicy liquorice notes - superb!

Brora

Originally known as Clynelish, Brora was established in the early 1800s by the Duke of Sutherland. The distillery was popular with blenders to the point where a second site was required to meet demand (still in operational as Clynelish). The original distillery was closed in the late 1960s and reopened in the 1970s, producing a range of malts - from heavily peated to very lightly peated.

Having long been one of the most popular closed distilleries for collectors and drinkers, Brora is now being refurbished and reopened by the current owners Diageo. The first bottlings are expected in the mid to late 2020s - the whisky world waits with baited breath!
