Château Branaire-Ducru is a Fourth Growth wine producer based in Saint-Julien. Purchased by the late Patrick Maroteaux in 1988, the estate is now run by his son Francois-Xavier. The 2020 vintage is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged for 18 months in oak barrels. The nose is brimming with blackberries, blueberries, lead pencil and violets, that follow through to this full-bodied wine. The tannins are polished and well-integrated. Best enjoyed after 2027.
