Nestled in Yountville, Blankiet Estate`s Paradise Hills vineyard soaks up mountainous terroir. Planted to Bordeaux varieties since the estate`s 1996 founding, the site yields a bold yet balanced Merlot. The 2004 saturates the glass with opaque pigment and fat, notes of blackberry and cherry jam, anise, chocolate and herbs. Though opulent, Blankiet`s Merlot retains classic structure with firm tannins framing the soft, generous fruit. This wine marries flamboyant flavours with elegant texture, staying true to Napa Valley`s signature style.
