Oliver Spanier founded Weingut Battenfeld-Spanier when he was just 19 years old. The estate has held organic certification since 1993 and biodynamic certification since 2005. Situated in the southern part of Rheinhessen, in Hohen-Sulzen village, the estate`s vineyards span the surrounding areas. This Riesling is made up of grapes from the Herrgott and Frauenberg vineyards, undergoing fermentation and ageing exclusively in old wooden fuders, with a single racking before bottling. It exhibits almost exotic spiciness, brimming with vibrant energy and presenting pithy flavours of citrus and resilient, chalky white stones.
