AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on the Kalmoesfontein farm in the Swartland appellation of South Africa, under the ownership of cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst. This 0.6ha single vineyard was planted in 1966 on a rough, exposed granite outcrop. The name Klip Kop (“Rock Head”) is the original name of the site and refers to the granite rocks on this hill. The 2020 boasts a wonderful minerality, with a marvellous texture and depth of flavour due to the low yields and age of the vines. A complex, flinty aromatic profile that will continue to evolve in bottle. Sold in approachable half bottle format.
