AA Badenhorst Kalmoesfontein Red 2021 is a medium-bodied, blended red wine from the Swartland region of South Africa. The 2021 vintage of Adi Badenhorst`s signature red blend – the 16th iteration – is made up of 58% Shiraz, 14% Cinsault, 14% Tinta Barocca, 9% Mourvèdre and 5% Grenache. This elegant red uses fruit from various plots on Adi`s Kalmoesfontein farm which are planted on decomposed granite soil. It is matured in large-format oak casks which help to preserve purity of fruit expression. Producer note. "The aromas are brooding but with complex notes of pepper, liquorice, perfume, and black cherries. The palate entry is quite dense with lavender and dark berry fruit. The finish is dry with well spread tannins ending with savoury and black currant flavours."
