The 2021 Chardonnay Powder House was quite closed when I tasted it from tank just prior to bottling. It comes across pretty much the same today. Readers are best advised to wait, or to at least give this a healthy decant. Pear, lemon peel, white flowers and crushed rocks open gradually, but the Powder House is in no mood to show its cards today. - Antonio Galloni
Aubert is a boutique Chardonnay and Pinot Noir estate that produces wine from single-vineyard sites in Napa Valley and Sonoma. Founded by husband-and-wife Mark and Teresa Aubert in 1999, it is regarded to be one of California’s cult wine labels. Planted with one of their rarest Chardonnay clones, Powder House reflects the distinct, powdery Goldridge soils on this hilly site. Enjoyable now, the 2021 vintage will soar in quality over the next decade and can be comfortably cellared for a span of 10 to 15 years.
