Askaneli Saperavi Qvevri 2020 is a full-bodied red wine produced from Saperavi grapes in the Kakheti region of Georgia. Founded in 1998 by the Chkhaidze brothers, Askaneli takes its name from the bucolic village of Askana, where the old family cellar, built by, Antimoz Chkhaidze, still stands. Saperavi Qvevri is vinified in an earthen vessel – qvevri – according to traditional Georgian winemaking practices. Expect a full-bodied, tannic wine, offering notes of blackberries, black cherries, spices and hints of smoke.
