Weingut Friedrich Altenkirch was founded in the year 1826 in the steeply sloping town of Lorch. Quarzschiefer comes from their ‘terroir’ series of wines and is produced from plots of Riesling planted on high quartz content soils. This is a classically fruit and mineral-driven expression of Rheingau Riesling made in the ‘Feinherb’ style which often signifies that the wine is slightly off-dry.
