Altar Uco is a new project founded in 2014 by Juan Pablo Michelini in Gualtallary, a sub-region of the Uco Valley, with grapes sourced from high altitude sites. The 2015 Blanco is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Chenin Blanc and 5% Chardonnay, fermented and matured in 500-litre oak barrels for one year. It is linear and fresh yet textural and spicy, with subtle herbal aromatics from the Sauvignon Blanc and chalky minerality from Gualtallary. Interesting, different and super-small scale, with just 900 bottles produced.
