Speyside Distillery

Elegant and Delicate

The small but perfectly formed Speyside distillery nestles in a glen on the bank of the river Tromie at the foothills of the Cairngorm mountains. Established on the site of an 18th-century barley mill, this boutique single malt producer launched in 1990 and achieved televisual fame as the fictional Lagganmore distillery on the Monarch of the Glen series.

Generally speaking, Speyside produces a light, smooth and accessible single malt, though its core SPEY series offers a range of ages and styles. SPEY Tenne is a somewhat rich, fruity style finished in Tawny Port casks; the light, floral Trutina is matured in ex-Bourbon casks; while the multi-award-winning Fumare is the distillery’s first peated malt.

The core range is complemented by two special edition bottlings: Royal Choice is produced from a selection of some the oldest casks in the Speyside warehouse, while the Chairman’s Choice is a popular multi-vintage bottling matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Finally there is the Speyside Beinn Dubh single malt, which is finished in ruby Port casks.
