Gevrey-Chambertin

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Located at the northern end of the Côte d’Or, Gevrey-Chambertin boasts some of the finest Pinot Noir terroir in the world. The wines of this hugely respected appellation can be bold in flavour, deep in tannic structure, and yielding layers of seductive flavour and perfume as they soften over time.

Gevrey-Chambertin may be home to more Grands Crus than any other village in the Côte de Nuits (nine in total, Le Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze being the most prized), but its abundance of prime vineyard terroir means there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy very high-quality, accessible wines lower down the quality pyramid. In terms of Premiers Crus, Les Cazetiers and Clos St Jacques are widely acknowledged to produce stunning Pinots, while to the east and north of these, village-level climats producing Pinots with Gevrey’s signature blackcurrant/cherry fruit and musky spice abound.

Among the most celebrated Gevrey producers are Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier and Domaine Leroy.
