Seña
The ‘King’ of Aconcagua
Seña, a wine that has become known as the ‘king’ of Aconcagua. Born out of a vision in 1991, of two wine industry legends, Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick. One of Opus One fame, and the other a man who has put Chile on the map for his incredible terroir-based wines. With this power couple, what Seña had achieved since its inception in 1995, is nothing short of spectacular – it has beaten first growths, super Tuscans, and leading US icons in blind tastings globally since it shot to fame at the Berlin Tasting in 2004. In that time, it has effortlessly produced several vintages that have achieved the stary 100-points from revered critics globally, rightly putting Seña and Chile firmly on the fine wine map
Seña’s remote & special location proudly shows how unique it is, poised majestically on a hillside in Ocoa, deep within the Aconcagua Valley. It sits on the cooler side where they uncovered some of the finest and most complex terroir, which along with the meticulous biodynamic vineyard management, ensures Seña’s DNA is unlike any other. The cooling breezes of the Andes, and the morning fogs brought inland by the nearby Humboldt Current, just 40 kilometres away give it’s blend of Cabernet, Carmenere, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet France elegance and freshness. This has crafted a wine of mesmerising complexity, beauty, and joy. Its personality is effortlessly sophisticated and familiar, its roots to the old world entwining beautifully with its Chilean flair; the fruit singing in the glass. The name ‘Seña’, meaning "sign” reflects this vision—to place Chile amongst the world’s most iconic cuvées.
