Pierrick Bouley Volnay Santenots 2021 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Santenots in the Volnay appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Having run his family domaine since 2014, Pierrick Bouley has emerged as one of the leading vignerons in Volnay, producing terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention and minimal added sulphur. Bouley`s 1er Cru Santenots is finely structured with smoky red and black berry fruits and hints of toasted oak.

The 2021 Volnay Santenots 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with dark cherries, black plum and light oyster shell scents that become more prominent with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, grainy textured and dark berry fruit mixed with iodine and veins of cassis. It remains strict yet focused and concentrated through to the finish. Give this three to five years in bottle. Classy. - Neil Martin
