Pierrick Bouley Volnay Ronceret 2021 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Ronceret in the Volnay appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Having run his family domaine since 2014, Pierrick Bouley has emerged as one of the leading vignerons in Volnay, producing terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention and minimal added sulphur. Bouley`s 1er Cru Ronceret is produced from a tiny 0.13ha parcel of vines planted on stony soil with a poor subsoil. An intense Volnay Pinot Noir with lush notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, violet and wood spice.
The 2021 Volnay Ronceret 1er Cru has a crisp, Pommard-like bouquet with open blackberry and raspberry fruit, crushed stone, tobacco and undergrowth scents. The palate is concentrated on the opening with dark berry fruit, hints of cola and white pepper. It`s cohesive on the finish with quite a persistent aftertaste. Again, this will need three to four years in bottle as its quite chewy at the moment. - Neil Martin
