Since 2008, Peter Veyder-Malberg has been making huge waves with his pioneering complex and terroir-driven micro-cuvées of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from old vines in the Wachau. Alter Native is a fascinating wine produced from Grüner Veltliner fermented on skins for four weeks before maturation in 300-liter barrels. It is intensely herbal, peppery and fruity with superfine tannins, delicate acidity and lingering salinity.
