Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams Magnum 2009
In a stroke of inspiration, Father Paul McMahon of Our Lady of England Priory in Storrington, West Sussex, realised the potential of the land for vine planting and approached Dermot to create a vineyard for the priests. Dermot agreed, proposing he could take a portion of the grapes to produce his own wine. The first harvest was lost to birds in 2008, but undeterred, Dermot continued. The 2009 vintage was a success, protected from birds, and when the wine was released in 2013, it was named The Trouble with Dreams, inspired by Father McMahon`s musing, and quickly gained critical acclaim.
Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams 2009 is a vintage traditional-method sparkling wine produced in the South Downs of Sussex, England. A Champagne-style blend of 60% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier, partially fermented in old barriques with no malolactic fermentation, the 2009 offers top notes of lemon rind and crisp green apple with richer notes of stone fruit, biscuit and blanched nuts. Fine bubbles and a creamy mousse lead to a fine, long citrusy finish. Only 600 magnums were produced.
