Established in 1998, Stark-Condé is a South African boutique winery based in Stellenbosch. The estate covers approximately 40 hectares in the Jonkershoek Valley, which is considered to be a prime region for viticulture. This aromatic white blend is made from a single vineyard block which consists of 4 different grape varietals. 42% Roussanne, 32% Chenin Blanc with 20% Verdelho and 8% Viognier. The wine balances richness and texture, with bright fruit and acidity.
- The 2023 Field Blend comprises co-fermented white Rhône varieties aged in 10% new oak barrels for ten months. This is initially quite understated on the nose, but it opens nicely with beeswax, peach skin and hints of white linen. Fresh and vibrant, the palate is well balanced with mango and peach on the entry. It’s not as complex as the previous vintage, but it boasts a judicious touch of spice on the finish. Drink it over the next four to six years.
