Arguably the most renowned wine in Italy and a globally recognized red wine, Sassicaia holds a special place as one of the original `Super Tuscans.` Since its inaugural commercially available vintage in 1968, Tenuta San Guido has consistently produced wine each year, except for 1969 and 1973. This particular release hails from the 1981 vintage, maintaining the characteristic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine underwent a maturation period of 19 months, with 65% in French oak barrels and 35% in Yugoslavian wood. The vintage was quite favourable for Bolgheri, akin to 1975 and 1978, displaying a dominance of ripe fruit characteristics.
