Prado Enea Gran Reserva Muga 1995 is a Rioja red blend, crafted primarily from Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano grapes. Aged for several years in American oak casks, this wine reflects the traditional methods of Bodegas Muga, a family-owned winery established in 1932. The vintage displays structured tannins and a complex array of earthy and fruit characteristics, representative of its terroir. This wine is suitable for those seeking a deep exploration of fine Spanish wines with a notable age profile.
- (aged for a year in large oak vats, then four years in smaller barrels) Medium brick-edged red. Incredibly complex, ethereal aromas of raspberry, currant, tobacco, tar and smoke, with an element of dried fruits. Like an essence of Rioja in the mouth: suave, complex and gripping. Dried berry and plum flavors complemented by smoke and coconut from the oak. Reminded me of a Lopez de Heredia wine but with more body. The wine's firm structure is perfectly buffered by flesh. Very ripe and very long on the aftertaste. Up there with the great 1991 in quality.
