Peter Michael Point Rouge Chardonnay 1999 is a limited-production wine crafted from select barrels, representing the pinnacle of the estate`s Chardonnay offerings. This vintage showcases a blend of grapes sourced from the cooler regions. The winery, founded by Peter Michael in 1980 in the Knights Valley AVA, seeks to blend Old World tradition with New World innovation in its wines.
Hazy pale yellow color. Knockout nose combines orange marmalade, yellow plum and grilled almond. Large-scaled, sweet and full. Initially came across as rather monolithic but became more perfumed in the mouth as it opened with aeration. Ultimately longer than the Cuvee Indigene, with a subtle, slow-mounting finish. For this limited bottling, the estate selects more glyceral, riper barrels that will support longer aging on the lees and more time in new oak.
